I have decided to follow Jesus

I woke up this morning with the words from this old Christian hymn mellifluously floating between my ears. "I have decided to follow Jesus. I have decided to follow Jesus. I have decided to follow Jesus. No turning back. No turning back." (Written by Simon Marak)

Making a decision to follow Jesus means and cost each person something different. "The cross before me, the world behind me..." What did you leave behind to follow Him? When I look back over my life there is nothing back there that I would choose to go back and get. The challenge however comes with my forward aim. My cross before me to live a life representative of a Believer in Christ Jesus. Easy at times and more difficult at other times. There is this reoccurring theme of mountain highs and valley lows where either I learn the lesson or I have to repeat it. I always need to remember to persevere, no matter what. "If you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard..." (Col 1:23) That's it - hope! With certainty, boldness and strong confidence that it is By the grace of God and the hope in Christ Jesus with all the authority upon which His life, death and resurrections assures us all who belong to Him.

Today, I am reminded that in God's Word He offers daily manna. So why not rise up early, pray and meditate with the hope of expectation to be fed - today, just today - by God, who is my daily Provider. Hey and if by chance I stray a little to the left or to the right - I can hum the words of this wonderful simple little song that reconfirms my faith, my walk and my commitment - To follow Jesus, my beloved Lord and Savior.
